Microsoft Teams: Your Campus Communication System

Welcome to the central hub for the college’s transition to Microsoft Teams Voice. This portal is designed to guide you step-by-step through our new telephone system using simple, everyday language—no advanced technical experience required!

What is Microsoft Teams Voice?

Traditionally, your campus phone number belonged to the physical wire plugged into your office wall jack. If you weren't sitting directly at your desk, you couldn't receive a call or know if your phone was ringing.

With Microsoft Teams Voice, your phone line is modernized and connected directly to your secure digital identity. Your actual 10-digit telephone number and your internal 4-digit campus extension have not changed, but how you use them has evolved. Because your phone number is now digital, you have total flexibility. You can place and receive official college calls using:

  • Your physical office desk phone (which we have updated to work with this new cloud system).

  • The Microsoft Teams application on your office computer or laptop.

  • An app on your personal cell phone (allowing you to call students safely without ever revealing your personal mobile number).

How This Portal is Structured

To make Day 1 as stress-free as possible, this guide is broken down into two distinct areas. Think of it as a "Quick Fix" area for your first morning, followed by a digital reference library for the future.

1. The Day 1 Quick Start Guide (Subpage 1)

This is your first-morning checklist. If you only look at one page today, make it this one. It features a simplified, step-by-step guide to get your calls working immediately. It will walk you through:

  • Pairing your physical Cisco desk phone to your account using a simple code at aka.ms/siplogin.

  • Finding the new telephone button and dial pad on your computer screen.

  • Setting up your new voicemail greeting so you don't miss important messages.

  • Handy keypad shortcut codes to put on a sticky note at your desk.

2. The Knowledge Base (KB) Articles (Subpages 101–108)

Once you are up and running, you can use these individual reference articles whenever you need help configuring a specific feature. You don't need to read them all at once! They are organized into standalone topics, including:
